Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rival 8706-BEW 6 Quart Electric Ice Cream MakerCustomer Review: Arrived damaged, not too happy about that. Summary: 3 Stars
My order arrived slightly damaged.
The box it comes in off the shelf was a mess and all taped up. They should of placed that box inside a heavier shipping box. That way if the shipping department decides to play football with it, like this one looks like, it won't be damaged as much.
Slight sharp dent on lip of inner container for the ice cream.
I had thought it was one of those new electric jobs where you didn't need ice or rock salt. You still do.
It's too big to have here at my small apartment.
Going to have to get rid of it and look for a smaller one.
Description of Rival 8706-BEW 6 Quart Electric Ice Cream MakerEnjoy making up to 6 quarts of ice cream with the Rival electric ice cream maker. The translucent canister lid offers easy viewing while the powerful electric motor prepares your ice cream. Many delicious recipes are included for entertaining friends and family. Many people swear by the traditional way to make ice cream, with ice and rock salt and lots of turning of the crank. The Rival 6-Quart Electric Ice Cream Maker keeps the ice and salt, but takes away the cranking. A powerful motor mixes up to a gallon of homemade ice cream, sorbet or frozen yogurt; the quantity is nice for large gatherings or just for people who enjoy their ice cream. When disassembled, the ice cream maker is easy to transport, making it perfect for cookouts or camping, provided there's electricity. The instruction booklet comes with 18 ice cream recipes, including Rocky Road and Praline Almond Fudge. Rival has modernized the old-fashioned ice cream maker's wooden bucket look with a tall blue canister of heavy-duty plastic and a sleek white motor casing with a spiral design. The ice cream can is made of sturdy aluminum, and it is marked with a convenient fill-to line. Cleaning is easy; just use hot soapy water. Towel dry the inner can; air-drying may result in spots. The motor section is not immersible. When assembled, the ice cream maker is 12 inches across by 18-1/2 inches tall, but it disassembles into outer and inner canisters, paddle, and motor. Rival products include a one-year warranty against defects and come with a detailed booklet of instructions, recipes, and tips. --Garland Withers
