Summary: 5 Stars

If you love fondue this is the fondue maker for you! We had planned on buying a different maker, but we are thankful we changed our mind. This one is great! It heats up very quickly and is a cinch to clean up, even after chocolate fondue! It is very easy to use, and is a great treat when inviting guests over for dinner.

Customer Review: Christmas gift
Summary: 5 Stars

My 11 year old grand-daughter had this on her Christmas list. When she opened it on Christmas morning, she just squeeled. Later I got an email from her saying she loved it. They have used it for cheese fondue and also for chocolate fondue.

Customer Review: Considering its price, it's not that bad.
Summary: 3 Stars

We upgraded from a sterno fueled fondue set to this and have been fairly pleased with it so far. There are a number of drawbacks as other reviewers have mentioned, particularly about the VERY short power cord, and that the unit doesn't get as hot as it should. Ideally a fondue pot should be on a dining room table for the communal dining experience, which is why having such a short power cord is so bizarre. If you were leaving it on a buffet I could see the short cord, but when you add a much needed extension cord it really looks unsightly. The cord does have a nice magnetic separation design in case of someone tripping on the cord, but again, if you're using an extension cord that negates the feature working properly. We've used our unit for chocolate, cheese, broth, and wine sauces and it does an OK job depending on what you're cooking. The dial indicates 400 degrees but in all honesty it rarely reaches that so allow more time if you're cooking meats in it. You certainly can't add too many items either as it causes the temperature to drop and the meats can wind up undercooked. Cooking using it becomes more science than art. Based on my own experience with this unit it's more a "couple only" experience or perhaps two couples with plenty of patience. For our needs it's adequate. If you're looking for something more serious or for a family you probably would want to upgrade to a more substantial unit. The nonstick surface holds up well making for easy clean up, but you cannot immerse the unit in water. As with playing the piano, practice makes perfect with this pot.

Customer Review: Cooks great, -1 for too short electrical cord.
Summary: 4 Stars

This heats the cheese or chocolate in a smooth, impossible to ruin, masterpeice...but the cord is a hassle, first of all it's super short, obnoxiously short. If you use an extention cord it weighs it down so the magnetic hold on the plug doesn't really hold up and is always falling out.

Customer Review: Do You Fondue Redux
Summary: 4 Stars

This review is the companion to my review of "125 Fondue Recipes." Basically, I used to "do fondue" all the time when I was first married -- the metal pot on a stand with a mini-sterno beneath to melt the cheese and chunks of bread on skewers for dipping. Only the heat was never sufficient to keep the cheese properly melted over time and it was always annoying to have to buy those mini-sternos. At last, a better mouse trap (ummm...fondue pot). Easy to use, contents stay hot and easy to clean up, as well. What more could you ask?
